Strap on your angel wings and resize your halo, this bus is set for Heaven or bust! A congregation of comedy and curiosity to cackle and confuse mortals and immortals. This play is a piece of three parts. No angels were harmed in the making of this production. No demons were flattered in the making of this production.

Angel Incorporated

Your guardian angel is tracking your reward points. Do you have enough for a miracle? The angels of Angelix watch over mortals from their computer. From there they may provide their assigned mortal with what they need, but not often what they want. Is managing mankind not your nine to five? The demons of Daemonix are always accepting applications.

The Guilty Gardener

Calling the case of The Children of The Garden versus Sylmalice. The prosecution states that Angel Sylmalice trailed the girl Eve into biting the tree of treachery. The defense argues that ever since "the exeunt" of Lucifer, angels have been actively prejudice to demons. Therefore, Angel Sylmalice is innocent by reason of "authenticity", with mental collapse triggered by systematic social suppression. Angel 12 is on the case.

Kitty Kloud 9

You are now kruising on Kitty Kloud 9 Where Pets Get Picky! While on the show, angel parents possess the chance to chat with their pets. Are your dog and kitty kaught in a furball? Is the bird barbarically flicking the fish again? Step lightly with Angel 9 and Mr. Kitty, as they tiptoe through tantrums and bring peace to petkind.

This is the reader's edition of the theater production script. No private or public performance rights are granted with this script.

The Whimsicals: The Wonky Wingmen is a collection of three one acts that poke fun at some traditional Christian beliefs and interject elements of our modern world into a heavenly society.

The first play, Angel incorporated, is the antics of a celestial office, where the work of being a guardian angel, which seems like it would be an interesting and exciting thing, is actually as mundane as possible, which makes it ironically hilarious.
There are fantastic references to Dante's inferno and a borrowed character from C. S. Lewis, and it all ends with an interesting and thought provoking twist.

The second act, The Guilty Gardener, is a raucous courtroom case of Adam and Eve, although it's less of a trial and more of a philosophical and rhetorical romp. The collection ends with Kitty Kloud 9, an entertaining and slightly "kampy" talk show that explore a the relationships between angels and their pets. The dialogue in this act is linguistically and alliteratively delightful.

The Whimsicals is described as comical, and while it definitely is, it also has moments of grappling with some pretty heavy and uncomfortable issues. The other thing that bothered me a bit was that while I enjoyed reading it, I don't know that I'd like it that much on stage. Many of the lines are very long and complicated, with verbiage that would likely be lost on an audience unless they had a copy of the script and were reading along or if they saw the play multiple times. Also, in Kitty Kloud 9 many of the c's are substituted with k's, which could never be conveyed on stage. Regardless, I enjoyed reading the written text, and that's what I'm reviewing, therefore I give it 5 stars. This is a clever and entertaining read for those who enjoy a little irreverence and slight sacrilege.

The Whimsicals A Play edition by Mr Bohemian Religion Spirituality eBooks Reviews

The Whimsicals The Wonky Wingmen is a very different type of humour book indeed. The author warns us ahead of time that he’s quite devoted to his religion, and cautions us of lesser faith to disregard the religious messages, but he needn’t worry there is very little to offend. The author is quite comfortable in poking fun at his own religion, as well.

The winners were the appealing logos that preceded each play. Loved the graphics, which were funky and clever. If the author wants to dab as a graphic artist he could have quite a future.

I also liked the fact that the humour here is quite clean; we need more of that.

The book is divided into three parts, each written like a play.

The first part didn’t tickle my fancy. It had an office theme, like Mary Tyler Moore or The Office or any of these funny office shows There were far more groans than laughs, but I did enjoy the references to “devil’s food cake” and that demonic reference to that dreaded email warning mailer-daemon. Yeah, now that I see the joke, I do think of it that way now!

The second play was in a courtroom, a hilarious send-up of Adam and Eve. While not fail proof, I did enjoy that play more than the office one. Some of the legal repartee was clever, much of it fell flat as it was too convoluted or irrelevant.

The third play was the best, especially the section on the loneliness of the abandoned and misunderstood kitten. Classic. The third play lost steam after the kitten departed, but was still solid.

So, hits and misses, which is why I give it three stars. I give five stars to the three graphic icons.
I’ll be reviewing this book a little differently as it is not a novel, but a stage play.

The Whimsicals was quite funny. It had my chuckling several times. I especially enjoyed the first act, Angel Incorporated. Though not even close to an accurate portrayal of how Heaven is probably “run,” it was entertaining and made me think.

The Guilty Gardener was pretty fun, too, but I will say that some of the testimonies were quite confusing and made no sense to me. Overall, though, it was a new way of looking at the Fall, etc.

Kitty Kloud 9 was even more wild. I think it was probably the most humorous. I’d love to see this one performed!

The one negative thing I might say about The Whimsicals is that if a new Christian were to read this and take it seriously, there could be disastrous consequences. However, I believe it would be abundantly clear to anyone with insight that this is not meant to be an account of the truths of Heaven, but rather a ‘wonky’ comedy.

Content 3/5

Language several instances of ‘h*ll,’ not referring to the place. Angels and demons alike use fake swear words.

Violence mentions of hell, death, destruction, losing souls, etc.

Sexual n/a

Other demons, devils, etc. Mentions of all kinds of sins and the (ridiculous but appropriate) punishments the sinners must go through.

For older young adults and adults. Easily enjoyed by Christians and non-Christians alike. Although there are some barbs at atheists.

Overall 4/5

The Whimsicals in an entertaining – though definitely not to be taken seriously – play in three parts. I’d recommend it to anyone who delights in ridiculous humor.
