I was standing at the bar and waiting for a friend when it happened.
When my life changed forever.
She strutted inside with her head held high with grace, not pretentiousness. With legs that reached her neck, and an hourglass frame perfect for gripping, she got me hard instantly.
And those green eyes got the rest of my body hard too.
Mistaking me for the man who cheated on her friend, she walked up to me, those green eyes burning with fire, and she slapped me so hard my skin bubbled.
And damn, it felt good.
She slapped me two more times, using her petite size to gain momentum as her palm crushed into my skin.
I never wanted it to end.
I'd never met a woman who made pain feel so good. I'd never met a woman as strong as myself. I'd never met a woman I wanted to dominate more.
I'd never met a woman like her.
Rome Moretti.
My next submissive.

I chose this book because of the high ratings, but I just couldn't finish it--I stopped reading after finishing 47% of the book. I couldn't connect to either of the main characters. The male lead, Calloway, was not a believable, strong alpha male. If a real man walked up to me and said or did the things that Calloway did in this story, I'd laugh at the absurdity or be turned off. Possibly both.I enjoy reading all kinds of romance novels, from mysteries, time travel, fantasy, gothic, Regency, BDSM, contemporary, menage, comedy--ALL romance works--but this storyline just did not do it for me. There's a lot of gratuitous italics used throughout the story, which becomes annoying after a while. I get that the italics are used to represent inner thoughts, but does EVERY inner thought have to be italicized? I've been an avid romance reader for over 30 years, and this is the first online review I've ever posted. I hope this author doesn't give up or become discouraged if she reads this--writing isn't as easy as most people think. Keep writing, Ms. Quinn! I didn't care for this particular book, but I'll check back again in the future. The early works of many popular authors are MILES away from the gripping tales they spin now. Keep writing! I look forward to staying up well past my bedtime sometime in the future, devouring a new novel you've written.

SPOLIERS
I liked this book a lot just not the cliffhanger ending. Its not a huge cliffhanger though. Rome and Calloway have fire together and they are hot. The way they meet is so funny. I liked how to knew he wanted her and made changes to not have a sub anymore because of it. Rome is a tad too stubborn for me sometimes she just doesn't know when to stop. Also so much of her past is hidden and even by the end of book 3 it is still not all laid out on the table. The story line with his mother is interesting and I want to see how that plays out. This book is part of a series there are 4 books. I have read the 1st three books the last one comes out in the next two weeks. The thing is book 2 and 3 could have combined or part of 2 could have been added to book one. There is a massive cliffhanger at the end of book 3 and Calloway's brother is a jerk face.
I just thought this was too similar to Fifty Shades.
I am halfway thru this book and I am finished. I do not like any character in the book and the story is a very bad attempt at recreating Fifty Shades. Fifty Shades will always be one of my favorites. I loved Anastasia Steele and Christian Grey. Loved their story. Nothing interesting about this story or the characters.
This book was sent via my kindle saying that it was a FREE book. First time ever that I was offered a book FREE. But that is not true - the book ended without finishing the story and said that I had to pay for the next chapters. Very disappointed that would allow this. BE AWARE THIS BOOK WILL COST YOU IN THE END IF YOU WANT THE WHOLE STORY
This book was really boring. Maybe the second one will be more exciting, but I'm not shelling out that much $$$ to find out.
I have been seeing this book for awhile now and wanting to read it, but passing it by because the sequels were each months in between and I would have to wait to read them. I couldn't stand it anymore and decided to dive in. The cover alone had me intrigued, I loved it. The book does not disappoint. I was glued to it and finished it in 24 hours. Although Calloway had me cringing at times with on the border of abusive controlling actions, he still stopped short of crossing the line. Rome's like of slapping him was a little uncomfortable as well. But when reading a book about BDSM lifestyle, you have to expect a little of this. My only complaint, and thus the four star rating, was that it felt like the book followed an outline of Fifty Shades. A man with an abusive adult during his younger years embraces the BDSM lifestyle, wants to make her his submissive but ends up only doing "vanilla" sex and being confused as to why he is settling for this with her. He is controlling and wanting to protect her, etc. People in the lifestyle with him telling him he can't live without that in his life, etc. Him having night mares and being broken and her standing up to him not letting him treat her that way. As I said, it was like an outline of Fifty Shades but changed enough to make it interesting. I would still recommend this book to anyone who loved the Fifty Shades series because you will enjoy this book. I hate to compare every BDSM book to the previously mentioned, but I want to be honest in my review. It didn't take away from me being glued to the story and I will definitely be waiting for the release of the second book!
So after reading the summary of this book and trilogy, I bought all three books right off the bat. Now I'm irritated that I did. First book started off okay, but about half way through it. Just started being a repeat of the same scenes over and over again. There is a lot of similarities to FSOG that the author tries to rework, and it just doesn't come off right. Didn't care for Calloway at all, I mean I get the whole troubled and broken guy with issues, but it was just boring after awhile, and if he used the endearment Sweetheart one more time I was going to throw up! Jackson was an ass, and Isabella just needed to get a freaking life. Skipped through a few parts because it was the same thing over and over again, and quite frankly it just lacked any kind of interest or emotion at all.
I thought that the second book would be better, but found myself jumping farther ahead than I did with the first book. I finally just gave up. Now I need to figure out who to give these three books too, I have no intention of reading the final book. Sadly, I wouldn't recommend this book to anyone...
